A couple of ideas for bananas on a barbecue, the first I had as a breakfast dish on holiday, the second is an old standard with the chocolate buttons adding a twist.
Ingredients:
Peel the bananas and cut them in half. Stretch a rasher of the streaky on a chopping board using the back of a knife. Wrap the bacon round the banana half and secure with cocktail sticks. Grill over a medium hot part of the barbecue until the bacon is crispy and the banana soft and starting to caramelise. Baste with a little olive oil if the bacon gets too dry.
You can do these bacon bananas under a grill for an exotic breakfast. Thats assuming you won't have a barbecue lit at 7:30 in the morning.
Ingredients:
You can bake the bananas in their skins. Cook them on the barbecue until soft, and the skins black. Carefully peel by slitting the skin along the length of the banana. If the barbecue is too hot you can slow the cooking down by wrapping the bananas in foil. You can eat them out of the slit skin with a teaspoon. Sprinkle with dark brown sugar and/or cinnamon.
For a special treat cook the banana in foil, slit lengthways before cooking and push in a line of chocolate buttons. When baked you get a hot banana with melted chocolate in it.
